Beer tasting in the Eifel

The taste experience at the Mühlenbrauerei

We offer our guests a beer tasting so that you can try the taste of our mill beers and experience them live. During the brewery tour, you will taste our two delicious types of mill beer: Erwin’s light mill beer and Erwin’s mill wheat.

Insight into the life of a brewery

Erwin's mill brewery in the Vulkaneifel region

Watch the video to find out more about the traditional art of brewing from head brewer Erwin in his Eifel brewery and brewery restaurant. It is possible to book brewery tours  &  beer tastings and brewery courses.

Important: The brewing process is not included in the tours, as the brewing process takes longer than 1 day. This experience is offered separately as a brewery course.

Program of our adventure day at the Mühlenbrauerei

The starting signal!

Start of the sightseeing program

The brewery tour starts at 11 am. And our guests immerse themselves in the “inner life” of our historic Schöpf brewery. Almost everyone knows what comes out of the brewery at the end of the brewing process: a drinkable, golden-colored beverage known as beer. But what does the “interior” of a brewery look like? Not many people know the answer to this question. That’s why our head brewer offers tours of our brewery, all with a tasting of our fine mill beer, of course.

Step 1, 2, 3...

The path of the brewing ingredients - the stages to the delicious Mühlenbier

Visitors learn about the process, equipment, utensils and rooms that the ingredients of our beers – hops, barley, malt, yeast and water – go through during beer production. The lauter tun, brewing kettle, cooling vessel and stainless steel tank are just some of the beer production stations that we will show you and explain their functions and modes of operation. As we produce our beers in a classic draught brewery, the ladles are naturally of particular importance.

You will experience where and how mashing, malting, lautering, seasoning, cooling and fermentation take place. We invite our guests to take a tour of the brewery, the bottling and cleaning rooms with a lot of joy, fun, humor and with our head brewer Erwin. You will visit the various fermentation and storage tanks and learn how beer is produced in our traditional Schöpfbrauerei brewery.

Let's continue with the program!

Mustard mill, distillery and sheet cake

At 12 no on we serve you our Schlachtplatte de Luxe for lunch – a culinary delight that combines tradition and modern sophistication. And because a delicious meal is best rounded off with a cool drink, we invite you to enjoy a free drink of your choice.

At 2 p.m. it’s time to “come in” to the mustard mill and the schnapps distillery. The historic mustard mill takes our guests back to a time when mustard was still produced untouched by preservatives and artificial ingredients. Our distillery consists of a closed water boiler that is fired with overpressure. The distillery dates back to 1984 and is still wood-fired.

At 3 p.m., the aroma of fine coffee wafts through the rooms. A slice of our delicious sheet cake and a large pot of coffee await our guests.

Our brewery tour through the individual stages of our beer production ends at around 5 p.m. with the two detours to the mustard mill and the schnapps distillery. And you, dear guests, will be one “beery” experience richer!

Our brewery

The smaller, the finer the taste!

Here in our historic brewery, you will notice that the smaller a brewing system is, the more special and creative the brewing results and the taste experience when tasting the beer.

As a beer-brewing layman and beer connoisseur, you may have wondered why so many incredible flavor variations and nuances are created when brewing beer, even though the ingredients are or must always be the same according to the German Purity Law.

Our head brewer and experienced beer connoisseur Erwin will answer these and many other questions during the brewery tour and beer tasting.
